THE HISTORY:
What better way is there than to spend Friday the 13th in one of Suffolk's most haunted buildings? Bungay is well known for its rich past and, more recently for its hauntings.
The site which is now The Three Tuns Inn ( with its cellar part of Bungay castles gatehouse )was originally home to another Inn which was built in 1540 but destroyed by a great fire in 1688 which destroyed much of the town.
In the early 18th Century highway man Tom Hardy frequented the Inn and used it as a headquarters with one of his accomplices namely Dick Turpin staying overnight and with many of Suffolks gentry's using the Inn as a meeting place it become a very popular place.
The Hauntings:
The Inn is said to play host to 20 spirits with the sounds of footsteps and disembodied voices being heard and the smell to pipe tobacco reported by staff, a suicide by means of hanging by the staircase and a plaque erected in the cellar at the point where a maid was chained to the wall for stealing some beer and a failed exorcism in 1969 this is a place that the Phantom Ghost Hunts team is excited to explore. What will we uncover on the night?
